Billing and credit usage

Q: How does billing and credit usage work? For new self-serve accounts, Fireworks uses a pre-paid credits model:
  • Add a valid payment method and billing address, then purchase credits before usage.
  • Usage across serverless, on-demand deployments, and fine-tuning deducts from your credit balance.
  • If your credits reach zero and auto top-up is disabled, usage pauses until you add credits.
  • You can configure auto top-up and a monthly budget cap in the billing dashboard.
Billing exceptions:
  • Accounts created before June 1 are grandfathered on existing postpaid terms.
  • Enterprise accounts can be configured for postpaid billing on request.
For grandfathered and postpaid enterprise accounts, usage and billing operate through a tiered system:
  • Each tier has a monthly usage limit, regardless of available credits.
  • Once you reach your tier’s limit, service will be suspended even if you have remaining credits.
  • Usage limits reset at the beginning of each month.
  • Pre-purchased credits do not prevent additional charges once the limit is exceeded.

Account suspension

Q: Why might my account be suspended even with remaining credits? Your account may be suspended due to several factors:
  1. Budget cap reached:
    • Your monthly budget cap can pause usage even with remaining credits.
    • Increase the budget cap in Billing to resume usage.
  2. Payment or account verification issues:
    • Accounts can be paused if payment verification fails or if additional account review is required.

Missing credits

Q: I bought credits but don’t see them reflected in my account. Did they disappear? For pre-paid accounts, usage consumes available credits directly. To check your credit balance:
  1. Visit your billing dashboard.
  2. Review the “Credits” section.
  3. Confirm your credit balance and auto top-up settings.
Note: If your account is grandfathered postpaid or enterprise postpaid, credits may still be applied differently under your contract terms.
