# Billing management

> Information about Fireworks.ai credits, invoices, and API billing.

## Invoice questions

**Q: Why did I receive an invoice when I purchased credits?**

Fireworks operates on a **pre-paid credits** billing system:

* You purchase credits to use the platform.
* Credits are used first for usage across supported products.
* If credits run out and auto top-up is disabled, usage pauses until new credits are added.
* Auto top-up can be configured to purchase credits automatically at a minimum balance threshold.

You may still receive invoices if your account is on a post-paid contract. Contracted customers can [contact our sales team](https://fireworks.ai/company/contact-us) to discuss billing options.

**Q: Where's my receipt for purchased credits?**

Receipts for purchased credits are sent via Stripe. Check your email for receipts from Stripe (not Fireworks). Contact [community\_billing@fireworks.ai](mailto:community_billing@fireworks.ai) if you are still encountering problems.

## API billing

**Q: Are calls to the Models API billable?**

No, calls to the **Models API** endpoint are free. This applies to all **management API calls** for:

* Accounts

* Users

* Models

* Datasets

*Note*: While the API calls themselves are free, charges apply for:

* **Model deployments**

* **Fine-tuning jobs**
